Sunday Musings: January 1

Hi there, happy Sunday and Happy New Year! How are you? Sometimes I find that when things don’t go according to plan we begin to put ourselves down. But what I’ve come to realize is that just as the universe is constantly spinning so are our lives. We don’t get to choose all of our happy moments and that’s okay. The beauty is not in focusing on what’s going wrong, it’s looking for a way out of it. Please remember that anytime when being okay is just that, okay.

Work It Out: In the beginning of November I set a goal to lose weight. I was motivated and no one could convince me otherwise. For a week straight, I went to the gym and worked out for an hour. But then the unthinkable happened and my father-in-law passed away. That began the start of long night’s traveling 13 hours to attend the funeral and clean out his house. Then having to travel to Jamaica for a week to bury him, back home and then another 13 hours on the road. That means bad eating, no gym but I’m not discouraged. I’m more determined than ever to hit my ideal body goals. Now that life is seemingly back to normal, I have no excuses to  not workout now.

On My Desk: Reading is inevitably my most favorite thing to do. I collect books, like people collect purses or shoes. Currently I’m reading Holding up The Universe by Jennifer Niven. It’s a love story of what it means to love and see someone for who they are. I’m really excited to start reading this book tonight before I go to bed. I feel as though it’s going to be a story I never want to put down. When I’m finished reading it, I’ll let you know if it was good or not.

Eating Healthy: I’m not sure if I mentioned this on my website yet, but I’ve decided to try to conquer veganism. In 2017 I want to start the year off with a healthy approach to life. This means eating healthy and working out at least four times a week. In the past I was a vegetarian for a year and noticed a lot of changes within my body. Since switching back to eating meat products I’ve noticed that my body doesn’t always agree with what I eat. I want to try veganism for weight loss and to overall change my approach to food.

On My Feet: Have you ever bought a pair of shoes and a year later tried to return them when they became worn and tattered? I would have never thought to do this, if I buy something and wear it, I keep it. That’s the logical and ethical thing to do right? Last year I bought a pair of limited edition sparkly Bailey Uggs. I wore them all throughout winter but had some mishaps along the way. After washing them one day, I noticed they had a big hole in them. I then proceeded to return them to Nordstrom’s on a hunch that they would let me exchange them a year later. They did, and I walked out with a brand new pair of chestnut Uggs which only cost me a difference of $4.

Insta Rebrand: Can I just say that Eva Gutowski is my instagram inspiration. I’m obsessed with how she doesn’t follow a themed spread. All her pictures are perfectly edited crisp and clear without a filter. Next year that’s going to be me, I’m going to take my pictures with a DSLR and edit them in lightroom. Watch out world, Rochelle’s on the come up. But seriously, watch out.
